Invited speakers are authors from a special conference issue of JOT (Canada) -- the 14th annual Ocean Innovation Conference ? Adapting to a Changing Circumpolar North: Traditional and New Ocean Technologies. Panelist speakers include Udloriak Hanson (CEO, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.); Heather Rasmussen (Policy Advisor, Nunavut Impact Review Board); Robert Briggs (C-CORE, SmartIce Project); and Ed Page (Executive Director, Marine Exchange of Alaska). SS6 Tsunami warning systems and efforts around the world

This session is to raise important issues related to the National Tsunami Detection, Forecast, Warning and Preparedness capability, including recent technical developments related to tsunami detection and emergency preparedness in other parts of the world. The session will start with an introduction by Paul Huang and Stephen Holt. Panelist Michael Angove, Director (Acting) US NTWC; Tsunami Program Lead (NOAA/NWS) will kick off the session speaking about the future of Global Tsunami Detection and Warning, followed by Panelist Paul Whitmore, Director (Retired) US NTWC (US) who will provide an overview of Tsunami Warning Operations. Three conference papers will then be presented at times shown below. Panelist R. Venkatesan, National Institute of Ocean Technology (Chennai, India), will finish the session by discussing the advancement and challenges in real-time data collection from tsunami buoy network for tsunami early warning. The session will end at 12:15.
